OUR MISSION
At the Benjamin Franklin Health & Science Academy (PS/IS 157), we partner with students, caregivers, and our community to provide a hands-on, project-based learning environment that fosters critical thinking and challenges students from all backgrounds. Through inclusive classrooms and a focus on health and wellness and the environment, our students become civic leaders in the multicultural and multi-able world of New York City and beyond.

We celebrate the efforts and accomplishments of all members of our community.
-
We treat others the way we want to be treated.
-
We choose the correct path, not the easiest.
-
We think about the impact of our actions.
-
We use language that is caring and supportive.
-
We expect that all members of our community act in ways that support our culture.
COME TO SCHOOL PREPARED AND USE SCHOOL TIME FOR LEARNING
-
We come to school on time, dressed for success, and with the necessary materials for learning.
-
We set challenging yet attainable goals and make plans to achieve them.
-
We come to school open to new ideas and experiences.
REFLECT ON OUR EXPERIENCES
-
We set aside time, every day, to think about the choices we make.
-
We use our learning and experience to inform how we live.
LOOK FOR SOLUTIONS TO PROBLEMS
-
We look for positive and productive solutions to problems.
-
We look for the heart of the issue and seek the best possible solution for our community.
